Mohamed Rowaizak is a UAE-based architect whose passion lies in blending heritage, materiality, and technology. His project with the UAE Year of Sustainability processes discarded materials through high-temperature melting, akin to the Earth's gem crystallisation process. This metamorphosis creates iconic surfaces with intricate textures, drawing inspiration from regional architectural features like the Muqarnas. The project breathes new life into overlooked materials, offering fresh perspectives at multiple levels: surface, object, and collection.
Throughout his career, he has always prioritised the use of environmentally-friendly materials and processes, taking on commissioned projects from different organisations and institutions, all while exploring materials and their relationship with natural and urban environments.
Mohamed Rowaizak's journey in design and architecture is punctuated by enriching experiences with Sharjah: Gateway to the Trucial States, a period at RMJM Architecture & Master Planning, and a stint at Polypod. His imprint on the creative world extends even further as he assumes the mantle of Creative Director at Spreading Grace, a socially conscious enterprise.
